Casting Call: Shazam!

Say the name...feel the power. Shazam!
With the WB's penchant to cast Superheroes on the young side, I started to think who I could picture along with Routh and Bale etc. As I did, a name once attached to a rumor for Batman stood out to me, he's 30 years old, 6'2, a good actor, who is affordable, not a major star, yet a known entity, and he's got the right hairline. Ladies and gentleman, I submit to you
Joshua Jackson as Captain Marvel

Now who do you say is Billy Batson? I submit to you, Graham Phillips who you may know from the live action Ben 10 movie, or as the middle child in Evan Almighty

Black Adam seems like a foregone conclusion, and i support the choice so
![]() Now for the casting of Thaddeus Sivana, the temptation is to go for Ben Kingsley, but I'm going for affordable realistic candidates with all my casting calls So without further ado, Dr Thaddeus Sivana Terry O'Quinn ![]() |

Joshua Jackson's an interesting choice. He'd have to put on some serious muscle though. And do you think he'd got the voice? Can't have Captain Marvel sounding like Pacey from Dawson's Creek.

Hmmm... interesting. I can see Jackson facially being okay... and he is a decent actor... but he strikes me as kinda small for the role. I dunno.
I wish the Rock wasn't a lock for Black Adam. I would trade size and intimidationability for someone who could act well enough to convey the tragic side of the character AND be genuinely disturbingly creepy. As for O'Quinn... i LOVE the man... loved him since way before Lost... but i'm not sure he is the right man for Sivana. He tends towards hammy when playing villains. |

I tried to go for some outside the box thinking. He's been good on Fringe IMO. People talk about actors bulking up a lot for roles, as if it's easy when in reality it all depends on your frame, and to me, he has a good starting point, and we know he'd be into it as he auditioned for both Batman and Superman.
![]() I know that there are better candidates out there for Black Adam than Dwayne Johnson, he's dropped The Rock name. he can be intimidating and act incredibly arrogant, those are the traits he has that are suited to this, personally I always loved the idea of him as Namor, but this really does seem locked. I like O'Quinn being hammy, I think that would work well for a movie starring the Big Red Cheese ![]() |

Regarding Jackson: he is a really good actor. I know his wise-cracking schtick is what he's known for, but I saw him on the West End in a two man play with Patrick Stewart. He was fantastic; strong voice, nuanced performance, and holding his own against one of the finest Shakespearean actors of all time, on in ENGLAND. No mean feat.
