How big is a sector?

Does anyone know how big is a sector? I've always wondered that.

Remind me first: Do the Lanterns protect the universe or just our galaxy?

GL2814 02-04-2005 12:38 AM

The universe. The Guardians of the Universe split the universe into 3600 sectors. A Green Lantern is placed in each sector. :gl:

Then each sector would have to be infinite. The universe is infinite, and infinity divided by 3600 is still infinity. The sectors would also have to be divided radialy, like spokes on a wheel.

so 42 then. . .the answer's 42, right? ;) :gl: I actually don't have any idea.

Who is your favorite Green Lantern?

1.) Hal Jordan
2.) Kyle Rayner
3.) Jon Stewart

Personally mine is Hal Jordan. Simply because he went crazy and tried to destroy the Green Lantern Core.
And also because he is the Green Spectre (doesn't need a ring, or a lantern) now.

There are 3600 Lanterns.
Each assigned to a sector.
Sectors varied in size and populations.
Larger ones had back up Lanterns.
Sectors were parts of the known universe.
Not the entire universe.

Kyle Garner.. not Rayner... srry guys.

:( DON'T KILL ME PLZ :(

Dr. Dale 02-12-2005 06:55 AM

oh wait no... Rayner... what?

bigger than a pixel but smaller than a vector.

How big is a sector? ... How long is a piece of string?

Well if you assume that all sectors are somewhat comparable in size, and that the universe is indeed expanding infinitly in all directions with a somewhat comparable correlation, you can assume that each sector, again assuming there are 3600 sectors, would be equal to about 2.359449224*10^43 cubic miles of area. This does not take into account blackholes which would would distort the area it an immesurable amount due to the space bending properties of a blackhole. This is just a rough estimate at best.

.... too much tmie on my hands! :nerd:

Well, I think the ideal number was 3600. You know one per sector. But it never worked out that way I think. Some got a few more GL's, some sectors shared a GL. At the moment I think there are what, 3 active GL's?

KalEl4Eva 08-12-2005 04:54 AM

Oh,okay.:)
