No doubt at least a couple of you, fluent in the multi-forum community, have caught wind of "Nicholas Adam Sitko," recently called out on spam attempts, and discovered to be a pedophile.

There was another one in a pickup truck forum a while back, about some kid who stiffed someone on a parts sale, and they all found out who he was and started posting pics of him and finding about his traffic violations history, etc. It got pretty funny.
What is it about cars?! I've heard of road rage...but thread rage?

A lot of car guys are also tech guys. Particularly guys who can afford to buy, and tinker, with a car like the NSX.
So it's much more than just a forum for sharing opinions, it's a research database, like many other respectable car forums. And the members take their online "home" very seriously.
So... yes, it was a monumentally stupid move, to spam there.
